Fine and Dandy

Join us for a very special rehearsed reading of Fine and Dandy by the playwright, Sue Frumin

Fine and Dandy is a fast‑moving, queer, music‑hall‑infused comedy by Sue Frumin that follows the chaotic, picaresque journey of Ernest (or Ernestine) Faigele Fine, a young Jewish gender‑nonconforming performer at the turn of the 20th century. The play traces Ernest’s accidental detour from Russia to Liverpool—rather than the intended New York—and their subsequent odyssey through Manchester, Blackpool, the Western Front, and even California, encountering an array of eccentric characters, showbiz villains, lovers, and misfits along the way.

This event is part of Lewisham’s celebration of LGBTQ+ History Month and marks the start of our new project, Any Old Iron – a participatory arts project reimagining music hall through a queer lens.

Tickets to the event are FREE and are available through Outsavvy https://www.outsavvy.com/event/33310/fine-and-dandy-reading-by-sue-frumin
